Privacy policy

Last updated: 23 October 2026. This policy covers the Transflixed browser extension and this website, transflixed.com.

The short version

Transflixed does not collect, store or sell any personal data. It has no server, no account system and no analytics. The developer never receives anything you watch or type.

What the extension reads

On netflix.com, the extension reads the text of the subtitles currently shown in the video player so that it can translate them. It does not read your account, your viewing history, payment details or anything else on the page, and it does not record or keep the subtitle text after it has been translated, apart from a cache held in the open tab's memory until you close or reload it.

How translation works, and where text goes

On this device (default). Subtitle text is translated by the translator built into Chrome (Chrome 138 or newer). The text is processed inside your browser and is not sent to the developer or to any server operated by the extension. When you download a language pack from the options page, Chrome itself fetches the model; that download is performed by Chrome under Google's policies, not by Transflixed.

Google Cloud Translation (optional). If you choose this engine and enter your own API key, each subtitle line is sent from your browser to Google's Cloud Translation API (translation.googleapis.com) together with your key, in order to receive the translation. This is subject to Google's terms and privacy policy, and Google may bill your own Cloud account. Transflixed asks for permission to contact that address only when you choose this option.

What the extension stores

Your settings (on or off, subtitle language, target language, display mode, translation engine) are saved with Chrome's extension storage and may be synced between your own Chrome profiles by Chrome's sync. If you enter an API key it is saved only in local extension storage on this computer, is not synced, and is used only to call Google's API as described above. You can erase it by clearing the field and saving, or by removing the extension.

Permissions

• Access to netflix.com: to read the subtitle text in the player and show the translated line.
• Storage: to save your settings and optional key.
• Access to translation.googleapis.com (optional, requested only if you pick the Google engine): to send subtitle lines for translation.

The extension does not run any code downloaded from the internet.

This website

The website sets no cookies and uses no analytics or advertising scripts. It is hosted by Cloudflare, which, like any web host, may process standard technical request logs such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the site. The demo on the home page runs entirely in your browser with sample sentences.

Sharing, selling and children

We do not sell or share user data, we do not use it for advertising or credit decisions, and since we collect none we hold nothing about children or anyone else.
